Previously, I wrote an essay marking five years since the COVID-19 Coronavirus was declared a pandemic. I wrote about what I experienced were some of the positive and negative things that happened to have come out of the pandemic and its aftermath, and I also discussed in great detail how unfortunately divided I thought we as a society have become in terms of political and social issues ever since the Coronavirus first emerged. Yes, it’s really not that great when we all would’ve thought we’d be able to learn from the COVID-19 pandemic and improve as human beings while sticking to the right side of history, but that’s not the case with everyone, and yet, here we are, in a much worse situation than we were since Donald Trump’s second overall attempt at running for U.S. President back in 2016, or maybe even earlier than that. Of everything that I discussed then regarding the five years since the World Health Organization first took drastic action to make sure people stayed safe from this then-unknown fatal disease, there was one crucial factor I briefly mentioned that I realized I did not get a chance to delve into much, and it was the fact that during that five-year time period, prices appeared to have started getting higher and higher.

That’s right; Inflation became a significant talking point throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and not every part of the world is safe from its effects, with items such as groceries and gas prices – most especially – becoming more expensive; Perhaps the best way to show an example of this is to go to any grocery store and check out how much each item costs and see how that compares to how much that item costed years ago before COVID-19 existed. Now, I’m not a financial expert by any means, but it’s easy to understand how frustrated people are that certain items have prices so high that they’re considered unaffordable, especially those people who are of extremely low income and are still struggling to make a living as supposedly the rich continue to get richer. In fact, people have become so angry because they can’t buy items like they used to at a satisfactory price anymore that they feel like they want to pin the blame on someone as an excuse to feel better about themselves. Most would definitely blame the effects of COVID-19 on the supply chain, while others point their fingers at the politicians for not doing enough to resolve the situation; For the latter case, specifically in the United States of America, depending on your political stances, you can pin the blame on the faults of either the Biden Administration or the second Trump Administration which is still ongoing as I write this, but would President Trump be able to fix what Biden was unable to do in terms of reshaping the economy in America following the COVID aftermath? We shall see. The same goes for any other major leading politician in any part of the world, such as Prime Minister Ishiba of Japan, or even the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney.

Another major factor that comes to play as to why prices for items are still expensive as of this writing has to do with an issue that I have started to care about a lot more during the latter half of the five-year COVID period. Of course, everyone needs to have an issue about something they care about be put into focus so that they could take some time to think about how best to tackle it in order to improve the world that we live in and its inhabitants. For some people, that issue is protecting the environment and not relying too heavily on fossil fuels; For others, it’s about equal rights for all regardless of their background, religion, what their sexual orientation is, etc. For those in-between, it’s how we can make sure that universal health care deserves to be practiced in all parts of the world so that everyone has the right to afford to stay alive, or how to cut back on wasteful spending so that we can save our money for more important things, not on useless, nonsensical crap (or otherwise, how we can stop more people from getting fatter and fatter)! For me, the issue that I care about the most unfortunately has something to do with why more isn’t done to completely stop one particular war that has become the center of further political and geographical division ever since before it even began, and it’s related to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

I want to make myself very clear that I do not have all of the legitimate answers that you may seek regarding this incredibly sensitive subject, neither am I an expert on every single thing that has happened so far during this specific ongoing war, and I certainly have no idea how anyone who is severely affected by this is supposed to feel. Therefore, in no way is this a research paper, nor am I an expert or an historian or a Russian or a Ukrainian, because if otherwise, this essay would’ve gone on for quite longer. I doubt I feel comfortable discussing my thoughts on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that actually began with the Crimea annexation in 2014 before escalating into an all-out war in 2022, and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to hear anything that I have to say about it because it’s just going to feel like a nasty political take, but I would never write down words that I do not truly mean and force you to waste your time reading them. Regardless of whether you think whatever I say here is ignorant, complacent, non-factual, weak and pathetic, or too personal or even extreme, it’s not going to stop me from saying what I feel like I need to say, and for someone like me, it would feel wrong for me not to speak out about this at all. Going forward, I will do the best that I can to try to provide some insight into everything that I know so far about this war and what my reactions are. I hope you’re ready, because whether you’re a Russian or a Ukrainian, or a liberal or a conservative, this ought to get ugly really quick!

Let me start off by saying that some of the factors that led me to become familiar with Russian culture in the first place are Smeshariki (Смешарики), and any hot beautiful female nude model/lesbian porn actress who was born in Russia worth fantasizing about; There, I said it, I confessed my sins, now can I please leave the box of shame now?! Anyway, what drives me to want to keep up with any updates about Russia’s war with Ukraine in the first place is that mentally, I fear of the negative impact that this ongoing global conflict has on either one of those two factors, even if I don’t worry about the staff of Smeshariki or those lovely Russian women as much as any other Russian in regards to speaking out against the Kremlin’s actions against Ukraine, as well as not pretending that politics isn’t there thus coming up with the excuse to be a silent bystander. In fact, I don’t even recall if I ever know any Russian personally! Speaking of Ukraine, I actually became familiar with Russian culture in some way even before I looked up any hot beautiful female nude model/lesbian porn actress who was born in Ukraine worth fantasizing about, so there you have it: Familiarity with Ukrainian culture in some way (and any Ukrainian woman who finds that ridiculous can come find me and kill me later)! Without a shadow of a doubt, nearly all if not every single Ukrainian including those hot beautiful female nude models/lesbian porn actresses deserve to be excruciatingly angry that the Russian government would have the gall to terrorize them like this, with bombs and missiles being launched towards those who can’t even flee their country just about every single day, destroying buildings and causing deaths and other kinds of disasters all around including fire breakouts, floods, and even power outages. Does that mean, however, that I should stop watching Smeshariki or start spreading hate speech or even wish death towards all Russians on this planet just as a way to show solidarity for Ukraine? Absolutely not! Russia had better not sabotage the reputation of a long-running popular children’s animated series that is literally produced there by including pro-war propaganda; And just because someone is Russian doesn’t always mean they would go out of their way to show support for the Russian government’s genocide towards the Ukrainians, let’s get real! We still have to learn to separate the government from its people, and freedom of speech does not give someone an excuse to spout inconsiderate language (at least that’s what Ado once advised of us to do on X, formerly Twitter). Besides, if you’re going to blame anyone for allowing Russian troops to occupy Ukraine for a “special military operation” in the first place (with the help of Belarus under the notorious and somewhat never-ending regime of Alexander Lukashenko), don’t immediately blame any Russian who thought voting was their obligatory right; Blame Putin.

Yes, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia from 2000-2008, then again from 2012 onwards for probably as long as he lives, who rules the country with an iron fist even though it feels like he has done so for far too long. The man whose greatest accomplishment is getting the Russian people not to care; The man who vows to make the Soviet Union great again but can’t seem to fully grasp why it even broke up in the first place; A man who has lied to and betrayed the Russian people nonetheless quite enough, jailing anyone who disagrees with him because that’s just what dictators do, rendering protests against him almost having near pointless outcomes. A man who has been treating the LGBTQ+ community like poop lying on the middle of the road. If there’s any Russian government official to immediately point fingers at for allowing Ukrainians to continue to suffer like this for the past however long this war has gone on, it’s Putin. After all, it was he who got jealous that Ukrainians get to enjoy being in their own independent country as they celebrate distancing themselves far, far away from the former Soviet Union, that he wanted to do something about it, and he did so in 2014 with the annexation of the Crimea; And thus began the further transformation of the Russian Federation from yet another piece of the former Soviet Union taking its first steps as an independent country itself into an autocratic hellhole, with everyone living there being dragged down with him.

It should still be made very clear that any of Putin’s horrific actions do not completely represent what Russia as a country and its culture deserve to be, and it should still be put to consideration that not every Russian is happy with Putin in the same way that not everyone in America voted for Trump or not everyone in Israel was happy with the way Prime Minister Netanyahu handled the war in Gaza; However, not every Russian is safe from the consequences of a leader who couldn’t even put his country’s interests ahead of his own, which is why some have left Russia completely even though the impact of his rule remains (only for some of those Russians to eventually return home to question “What the hell happened while I was gone?!”). In the end, though, Putin did not become the President of Russia simply by merit; I would assume that he was chosen by the Russian people by means of voting because they all thought he was going to find some way to revolutionize their country to distinguish it from the rest of the world. Oh, Russia was revolutionized, alright, but for all of the wrong reasons; Look up any news articles right now about Russia that isn’t delusional state-sponsored propaganda because it’s not looking so great! Perhaps the only question left to answer is this: Who really is responsible for the current destruction of the reputation of Russia? Is it Putin for doing very little to help improve his country in terms of living conditions? Is it the Russian people for assuming too much but realizing too little of what unpredictable move Putin was going to perform? It would be up to you to decide, but heed this: Putin truly did change Russia forever, but it turns out only for the worse, and the Russians didn’t know, and that’s just bad enough. So, to any Russian who is reading this who is still choosing to support Putin in the midst of all that has happened since late-February 2022, this is all on you; You all should’ve known exactly what you were up against.

… Have you noticed so far that I have chosen not to write in here that all Russians are terrorists, that they’re filled with hate yet are so undeniably stupid, hopeless, and self-centered enough to remain silent every time a political discussion comes up, that they’ve all become Putin’s minions and just blatantly believing everything he says like they’re sheep, and that they deserve to end up in the same way that Order 66 was ordered on the Jedi in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith? It’s ironic that I just did, but that’s not the point here; Besides, just because I wrote it down here doesn’t mean I truly believe that publicly! You keep those kinds of negative feelings and thoughts to yourself like everyone else and not open your mouth out loud to express them; It’s really not that hard to do! There is more than one way to put a stop to Russia’s continuing onslaught towards Ukraine, but inciting hate speech and violence as part of “Russophobia” is absolutely not it. In fact, not only is that reckless and irresponsible to say or stand by, it’s also hurtful, wrong, and will only cause more radical political division (and it’s unacceptable too). It could still be understandable why we have people who think this way, Ukrainians most especially, giving up believing that there are still some good Russians on this planet left, or that the only good Russian out there nowadays is a dead one, yet those who stick by that latter assertion definitely have a lack of consideration for other people or no heart at all. Zangief, a character from the fighting arcade game Street Fighter II is Russian and looks tough, but does that truly mean that he’s supposed to be considered a really bad guy? I don’t think so! Deep down, to be honest, I want to try to do the best I can to stick with the notion that there are still a variety of good Russians out there who side with the truth, who side with real peace, and who side with kindness, love, and support (those three words will come in handy much later), and it’s all due to everything I have stated in these past three to four paragraphs. However, that doesn’t mean that more efforts don’t need to be made to convince more Russians as possible to stand with Ukraine; After all, Ukrainians aren’t the only people who need to be saved!

Many attempts to change Russians’ perceptions about what their own country really is have failed so far, but surely a couple of other opportunities await so that we might get all Russians to finally side with the utmost moral good. Though, when you think about it, with each attempt made to change Russians’ minds to convince them that Ukrainians are not actually the enemies here, it usually probably ends up impacting only a couple few. For example, with the flooding in Kherson Oblast due to the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by Russian forces, did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? How about the attempted coup d’état in Russia by the Wagner Group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin in protest over the way the war in Ukraine was being handled; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? What about the death of Alexy Navalny because Putin let him die in that arctic penal colony prison; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? The Crocus City Hall mass shooting by ISIS that left 145 people dead in Moscow because Putin brushed off warnings from the U.S. that a terrorist attack would occur in Russia at some point; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? The Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital bombing, once again by Russian forces; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? Ukrainian forces advancing towards the Kursk Region at one point; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? Even the current state of the Russian economy since the war started; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind? Or that one time when an announcement of a partial mobilization felt like a majority if not all Russian men being drafted into the Russian army was a strict requirement; did that seem to change every Russians’ mind?

Those who are actually more open-minded and smart enough not to fall for the Kremlin’s brainwashing ought to be more influenced into believing in good than those who aren’t, most especially those who are more conservative-leaning, and we may never understand why we still have Russian people who would either put their trust in or sell their soul to Putin to just let the war end with Ukraine losing because it’s army is clearly outnumbered, and with Russia having its reputation with the rest of the free and democratic world sabotaged further down the line, but if we do not take the time to actually put ourselves in their shoes in such regard, we’ll never be able to fix what is wrong with Russia, and this war will never ever end properly, with victory for Ukraine and freedom for Russia from Putin’s tyranny. After all, most Russians deliberately supported and voted for Putin even before late-February 2022, and who knows if they still support him now!?

Let’s now talk about the response from the rest of the world regarding Russia’s continued aggression towards Ukraine: Just about all of Europe except Hungary stands with Ukraine, and Japan does too, but the United States currently almost does not… not as long as President Donald Trump has been widely considered by his opposers as a Russian asset at best, and a Putin puppet at worst.

You see, Joe Biden, who was President of the United States from 2021 to 2025, may have actually been tough on Russia unlike Trump during his first administration, but Biden was not the reason Putin allowed Russia to launch its attack on Ukraine, and anyone who believes that must really hate Biden with a passion to even have a stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict at all! Even so, as someone from the United States of America, I showed my support for then-Vice President Kamala Harris not just because I simply dislike Trump in general and what policies he has planned this time around during his second administration, but also because she knows that, during a meeting she once had with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy while she was running for President in 2024, Trump’s methods of ending Russia’s war with Ukraine are “not proposals for peace” but “proposals for surrender,” which is unfortunately exactly what many people are fearing is taking place right now. During his 2024 campaign, Trump said he would be able to end Russia’s war against Ukraine on day one of his new administration, but so far, we have yet to see him actually put his plan into effect that would satisfy all of the needs of the Ukrainian people even though he now still has another four years to actually come up with one. Either that, or he really is doing whatever he can to put his plan into effect but Putin and Russia would be the only ones getting all of the benefits. Trump most recently said that Russia would face major sanctions if it does not meet with Ukraine on the negotiating table to put an end to this conflict once and for all, with all of the killing of innocent people in Ukraine to finally stop, and now we just need to make sure he keeps his word on that. I do not have much hope that this second Trump administration is putting in enough effort to contribute in ending this war properly, as people aren’t happy that the proposals that they have brought to the table at the moment are only pleasing Russia more than it does Ukraine, but only time will tell if those proposals are actually going to work out well in the end, as it is only year one out of four as I am still writing this so I don’t want to jump to conclusions too soon here! However, there are two reasons why I feel that U.S. President Trump is providing little hope in ending this war properly…

The first reason is that during a recent United Nations vote that declares Russia as the aggressor and for the country to end its war against Ukraine immediately as it enters its fourth year, the United States voted alongside Russia, North Korea, Belarus, Israel, and thirteen other countries in saying “No, we don’t think so,” signaling that the United States has officially landed itself on the wrong side of history, or to put it another way, the United States has become a pawn in a game of chess siding with Russia as it starts winning against Ukraine with each move made by pieces on either side, yet it’s all still absolutely disgraceful (Japan voted otherwise, so good on them)!

What’s even more disgraceful is the second reason, in which during a late-February 2025 Oval Office meeting between Trump, Zelenskyy, and current Vice President of the United States J.D. Vance, what started as negotiations for a minerals deal of sorts turned into a heated confrontation between the three political figures right in front of surrounding press that kicked off when Zelenskyy respectfully criticized Vance for stating that Ukraine and Russia are desperately trying to engage in diplomacy to put this war to an end without providing evidence, as Russia had already broken numerous diplomacy-related ceasefire deals with Ukraine before to have resulted in this war even starting in the first place. Apparently, Vance was unable to handle this criticism very well, and got angry that Zelenskyy is not appreciating that America is also doing everything it possibly can to help put a stop to the war, even though Vance himself went so far as to say previously – before he became Vice President – that he didn’t care what happened to Ukraine “one way or another,” and yet, he still could not even provide a single piece of evidence to back up the claim he actually visited the country being victimized and felt empathy for its citizens being under constant attack by the Russian forces. This led to Trump siding with Vance and not only firmly accusing Zelenskyy of putting the entire world at risk of a World War III but also asserting to him that America knows what it’s doing and should be thanked for at least trying. The rest of that meeting and its aftermath unfortunately turned into utter chaos and bewilderment, and if you kept up with this news story, I’m sure you’re familiar with what happened next…!

Here is where my stance on this entire situation with Russia’s war against Ukraine unfortunately has to come in: If you want to know why I’ve become a bit too political with these essays lately, events like these are the reason why, so at least I’m decent of a human being enough to stand on the right side of history! I truly believe that Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, all because of completely false statements such as Ukrainians being Nazis, is absolutely unacceptable, and those who still support it while continuously falling for the Kremlin’s lies need to be held accountable, Russian or not. I will stand with Ukraine no matter what, and I valor the perseverance of Ukrainians who did not ask for their lives to be changed this way, and the Russians who actually have a brain, a heart, and a conscience enough to understand that what their government is doing is wrong but fear of what would happen to them if they ever spoke out. Both of those groups clearly did not ask for any of this to happen, yet although they are both suffering massive casualties as a result of the effects of this war, one of those groups is suffering much more. We are living in extremely dark, unprecedented, and troublesome times, and we need more and more Russian people to act like they actually understand that, not just a small few, if we actually are willing to come together and allow for Ukraine to win so that Putin’s wrath does not spread further beyond the borders of Europe. It is still a fact that more than 11 million Russians have family connections in Ukraine, so even if the Russians will never understand how the Ukrainian people truly feel, that doesn’t mean they can’t connect with or relate to them in some way, unless one family member gets the others to believe a ridiculous claim about Zelenskyy actually keeping Ukraine-helping U.S. military financial aid for himself that tears the entire family apart.

As for the Ukrainians, including President Zelenskyy, perhaps the only thing I can say is this: Your country, like so many others, is nowhere close to perfect in a realistic sense (In fact, it was labeled corrupt at one point), but it doesn’t have to be; You are strong, you are loved, and we’re here to support you all whenever you need us. We are truly, truly sorry that things turned out the way they did, and we should’ve listened when we had the chance (At least Pussy Riot, the Russian feminist protest music and art group that tried to warn us for years that Putin was going to be a threat to world democracy, even as we chose to ignore them). We failed to prevent evil from being caused in the world, but it’s not too late to still join in the fight to eradicate it. We have tried, we will keep trying, and we will never stop trying until Ukraine is left alone, Putin steps down, and Russia is finally free of his rule. In the meantime, any Ukrainian who, as it turns out, is actually siding with Putin on this is out of touch with reality and should be ashamed.

As I previously implied, I do not recall if I know any Russian or Ukrainian personally (Maybe I’m only familiar only with those women who are nude models or take part in sexy lesbian porn videos), but if I ever did, how am I supposed to tell them that there is so much hate and anger and political division going on in the world right now? How could I encourage them all to get more politically active if they really want there to be true peace if I don’t even take a second to understand their true feelings about such sensitive subjects, especially the Russians who did not ask to have the world turn against them as they try to continue living normal lives? A whole lot more needs to be done to stop Russia’s invasion of Ukraine from continuing than with the current kinds of governmental leadership that is taking place, most specifically in the United States of America, which brings me back to that confrontational Oval Office meeting between Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vance that occurred in late-February 2025. The United States is supposed to be a beacon of light for the rest of the world, a country that most others can look up to because of it being considered “the land of opportunity” and “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” One person on Instagram once said that only kindness, love, and support can help us to create a better world, a world where there is no war; Yes, kindness, love, and support, but unfortunately, you’re not going to find any of that at the White House at the moment.

Personally, I watched that meeting unfold, and it made me sick to my stomach; It was just absolutely upsetting to watch. Seeing Trump and Vance talk so arrogantly and so condescendingly to Zelenskyy, a man running a country literally being harassed by its large-massed neighbor just about every single day with bombs and missiles killing innocent people, was incredibly shameful. Though, maybe I’m glad that this meeting even happened the way it did at all – despite whether or not the three-men-standoff should’ve happened behind closed doors instead without any press in sight – because it exposes Trump and Vance for who they really are: Two American men doing a Russian dictator’s bidding; That’s what it basically was, and that’s why there are severe doubts right now about whether or not what America is doing to help put this war to a complete stop is truly going to be worthwhile due to the outcome favoring too heavily towards Russia most especially in light of that White House meeting, but we are simply going to have to find out how it goes from here. By the way, the fact that Zelenskyy kept his composure while Trump and Vance were getting mad towards him makes him the real hero of the story, giving people more reasons to consider him a powerful role model and a significant example of how to properly lead a free and democratic country currently a victim of a war it did not want. We all have to be like Zelenskyy, and do our part to keep bringing more good into this world. At the end of the day, kindness, love, and support is what trumps over hate and what keeps the future looking bright. We need to see the efforts by both Russians and Ukrainians combined to help make that bright future happen, much less the Belarusians, the Europeans, the Americans, and the rest of us around the globe who also don’t want to read another news article related to this devastating war ever again. We cannot go backwards… We just can’t.

These final messages are for the United States of America under this second Trump administration and Russian President Vladimir Putin himself. For the former, it should become apparent that the United States of America has now become the United States of Russia, and as long as Trump is in charge, it is no longer on the right side of history, so we might as well either deal with it for the next four years like an incompetent fool just standing there while watching a bully give a random loser a wedgie, or learn how to come up with much more heavy-duty methods of fighting back. The more news articles there are about this, the more updates may become available in regards to details, but whatever plan this second Trump administration has of making sure this war ends that would finally make all Ukrainians happy, it had better work. As for the latter, the very least I can say to Putin right now, as Arnold Schwarzenegger once addressed to him, would be this: “You started this war, you are leading this war, you can stop this war.”
